4-6. Previous: . Carolina Panthers. 23. team. 87. In a tale of two halves, the Panthers pulled out a victory Thursday night at home against the New Orleans Saints. After holding the Saints to three points in the first half and scoring 20, New Orleans turned the tables. Drew Brees helped the road team score 17 points in the fourth quarter, while Cam Newton and the Panthers offense could not get into the end zone. Two turnovers and six penalties by New Orleans were a big key to the Panthers win. Carolina will also have to keep an eye on the long-term health of linebacker Luke Kuechly, who left the game with a concussion, something that has hindered his career.

Next Week: Carolina gets a great opportunity to climb into the playoff race with a long week to prepare for a cross-country trip. With back to back games coming in Oakland and Seattle, the Panthers can stay on the west coast and arrive earlier than usual with the extended week.

Playoff hopes: Had Carolina not won on Thursday Night Football, their season was essentially over. With some new life, now is the time for Carolina to make the push towards a playoff opportunity. They will need help down the stretch, but after a win against a division opponent you can not rule it out.
