Ohio State had plenty of questions to answer on the defensive end entering the season, as the Buckeyes returned just three starters on that side of the ball. One of those starters was Lewis, who is once again performing at a high level to help the Buckeyes’ defense remain dominant.

Lewis racked up 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks in his first shot at extended playing time as a redshirt sophomore in 2015. Despite being surrounded by newcomers on the defensive line, Lewis has not missed a beat with another 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks to his name this season, in addition to three forced fumbles.

Much of that production has come recently, as Lewis was a force against Maryland and Michigan State. The Wolverines’ offensive line is a tougher challenge, but Lewis has the ability to wreck any gameplan.

No other Buckeye has more than four sacks, so Lewis is the key man for the Ohio State pass rush. While Lewis doesn’t have great speed, he’s a fantastic tackler who can overwhelm opponents with his size and strength at 6-4, 260 pounds.

Lewis’ big task will be to slow down Michigan’s running game, as the Wolverines don’t figure to get much offense elsewhere. Michigan has used a running back by committee much of the season, but could lean on Smith after he piled up 158 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries against the Hoosiers.

In addition, Lewis could force O’Korn into some mistakes if he can generate some pass rush. The Wolverines are loaded with dangerous playmakers in the open field, so Lewis’ ability to disrupt things at the line of scrimmage.
