No. 4: 142 rushing yards, 3 TD vs. Ohio State (2006)

Player: Michigan RB Michael Hart

Final Score: 42 Ohio State, 39 Michigan

Head Coaches: Lloyd Carr (Michigan), Jim Tressel (Ohio State)

W-L Record in 2006: 11-2 (Michigan), 12-1 (Ohio State)

Michael Hart scored only one touchdown in the first half of the 2006 showdown, but tacked on two more in the second during the Wolverines’ close loss in Columbus. Approaching the final seconds of this 2006 meeting, Hart concluded his day with 142 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Even though the Wolverines outscored Ohio State in the second half, 25-14, Ohio State walked away with the win, thanks in part to a 21-point second quarter. Ohio State also had QB Troy Smith and WR Ted Ginn, Jr., both of whom harassed Michigan all game.

Hart would score 84 points at the end of the 2006 season. He was also on a few watchlists, including the Doak Walker Award and the Heisman. Furthermore, he’d finish the season with eight 100-yard games, but managed to put up only three games of two-or-more touchdowns.

After playing on the collegiate and pro circuits, Hart moved on to the coaching aspect of football. Currently, he serves as the running backs coach for the Syracuse Orange. Before heading to Syracuse, Hart also spent some – literally – quality time at Eastern Michigan in 2011. There, he was assigned to a titled termed “offensive quality control.” Hart then made his way out west to help out the running backs at Western Michigan for two years. That year, Jarvion Franklin led the Broncos rushing game with 1,551 yards and 24 touchdowns.
