Alabama vs. Auburn: 5 reasons the Crimson Tide defeat the Tigers
By Adam Cox
2. Bryant-Denny Stadium
Nick Saban has been the head coach for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide for almost 10 full seasons. During that time, Alabama’s record is 106-18 on the field (5 wins were vacated due to NCAA infractions in 2007). This includes only seven losses at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
In the past five-plus years, Alabama is 73-7. Since 2011, the Crimson Tide have lost a total of three games at Bryant-Denny. Since the beginning of the 2015 college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide are 25-1. That one loss was at Bryant-Denny Stadium versus Ole Miss on September 19th, 2015. The Crimson Tide have not lost a game at home in over a year.
Alabama leads the all-time Iron Bowl series 44-35-1. The majority of those games were played in either Birmingham or Montgomery, neutral sites. Of the 80 Iron Bowl games played thus far, 23 have been played in either Tuscaloosa or in Auburn. The Crimson Tide lead 7-3 in Tuscaloosa and lead in Auburn, 8-5. The Crimson Tide’s last loss to Auburn in Tuscaloosa was in 2010.
Regardless of location, Alabama has won four of the last five and six of the past eight meetings in the series.
No visiting team expects to walk into Bryant-Denny Stadium and face an easy task, especially as Alabama’s teams have the talent to back up the home-field advantage. This includes the Auburn Tigers, who come into Bryant-Denny Stadium with a talent disadvantage.
