Play of the Week: Curtis Samuel’s game-winner in The Game

The play of the week comes from the biggest game of the week. Ohio State Buckeyes running back Curtis Samuel had a game-winning 15-yard touchdown run in double overtime to knock off the arch rival Michigan Wolverines at home in The Horseshoe in The Game.

Ohio State was able to get a new set of downs on a controversial ball spot in the second overtime period. Michigan thought that it stopped Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett short of the first down on the crucial fourth and one.

On the very next play, Samuel would find daylight and explode through the Michigan front-seven. He would find pay dirt to lift the Buckeyes to another win over their arch rival in The Game.

While Ohio State finished the 2016 college football regular season at 11-1 (8-1), the Buckeyes will not be playing for a Big Ten Championship. This is because the Buckeyes lost their lone game of the season to Big Ten East rival Penn State earlier in the season.

Penn State went 8-1 in Big Ten play with the head-to-head tiebreaker over Ohio State to play the Wisconsin Badgers in Indianapolis. Because of Samuel’s impressive score, the Buckeyes have a shot at being the first at-large team to crash the College Football Playoff.
