2017 NFL Mock Draft: Dalvin Cook makes his case
By Brad Weiss
The Chicago Bears were dealt another blow this past week, as star linebacker Danny Trevathan was put on IR, ending his season. Even with Trevathan, the team has been terrible this season, and will definitely be picking within the first five picks next April. The team needs to fix a bunch of holes on their roster, but none is bigger than the one under center.
It has been an awful year for Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who will likely be gone after the season. Cutler has battled inefficiency and injuries throughout the season, and fans are tired of him being the team’s quarterback. There are a couple quarterbacks in this draft that could be good pros, but Mitch Trubisky from the University of North Carolina is the best of them.
What sets Trubisky apart is his decision making abilities, that have yielded only four interceptions this season. Despite only one season as the starter on Chapel Hill, Trubisky has shown he has the most NFL-ready skill set, and could step right in for the 2017 season. There is going to be plenty of debate on this before it is draft time, but Trubisky should be the first quarterback off the board.
