High Salary C

Karl-Anthony Towns-Minnesota Timberwolves (9,400): Towns came back to earth last night with 20-3-1 and three blocks for 33.1 fantasy points. In his previous game, though, he reminded us of how much potential he really has with 47-18-2 with three blocks for 75.6 fantasy points. Towns will look to get back to close to that level tonight against the Hornets who are allowing the tenth-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers. In his earlier matchup with the Hornets, Towns had 21-8-4 for 35.6 fantasy points. He’s expensive, but with his 9K+ salary comes an extremely high ceiling.

Hassan Whiteside-Miami Heat (8,600): Whiteside struggled against “The Stifle Tower” in Utah as expected finishing with just 23 fantasy points on 9-10-0 in 36 minutes. He had looked very good in his two previous games, though, with 50.4 and 54.7 fantasy points against the Celtics and Nuggets. Portland doesn’t have Rudy Gobert to run at Whiteside tonight, but they have been surprisingly decent against opposing centers even though they can’t defend opposing PF. Whiteside is still a lower risk option than Towns although he doesn’t have the sky-high ceiling that Towns brings.

Al Horford-Boston Celtics (7,300): As I said in yesterday’s FanDuel daily picks, Horford needed to be more aggressive against the Kings than he was against Detroit. Apparently, the Celtics coaches agreed and got him involved early and often on his way to a massive 26-8-3 line with six blocks and two steals for a huge 55.1 fantasy points. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Sixers who are allowing more fantasy points per game to opposing centers than any other team in the NBA . He isn’t as low-risk as Whiteside since he can disappear like he did on Wednesday with just 24 fantasy points, but he does have huge upside in tonight’s plus matchup.∗∗

Marc Gasol-Memphis Grizzlies (7,100): Gasol is the Grizzlies offense right now, and he had a big night on Thursday with 25-2-3 and five blocks for 40.9 fantasy points. He should be around 40 fantasy points again tonight against the Lakers making him a nice investment at just over 7K.
