team. 42. San Francisco predictably played in one of the worst NFL games in recent years. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was benched after attempting just five passes, and converting only one in a snowy Chicago. This defense is completely gassed, evident by Jordan Howard rushing for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Eleven penalties gave the team zero chance of competing on Sunday as well. It would be hard to imagine Kelly is gone after one year, but San Francisco can already see hiring him was a critical mistake. Perhaps they should have had some foresight when they were the only team to even interview him.
Next Week: The 49ers will continue their tour of playing horrible opponents when the Jets come to town. Both teams would technically fair better long-term taking a loss, but no one on the field has that mindset. San Francisco needs to attempt some deep passes and challenge the Jets secondary, which is depleted of young playmakers.

Draft Talk: San Francisco will be going into 2017 expecting to not have Colin Kaepernick, especially after he was benched Sunday. Deshaun Watson is expected to be a good fit for Chip Kelly’s offense, and could be available for the 49ers with a top-three draft pick. Kelly can’t wait like the Browns for a quarterback in 2018; his career in the NFL depends on the success of this pick.
. 1-11. Previous: . San Francisco 49ers. 31
