Baker Mayfield has been unbelievable under center for the Oklahoma Sooners the past two seasons, and this past weekend, he put on a dominating performance in the Big 12 Championship. Playing against instate rival Oklahoma State, Mayfield threw for 288 yards on only 13 completions, while tossing three touchdowns. The Sooners won the game 38-20 over Oklahoma State, and will now head to the Sugar Bowl to take on Auburn.

With his three touchdown passes, Mayfield now has 38 TDs on the season, against only eight interceptions. The win was the ninth straight for the Sooners, who felt they had a case for the College Football Playoff. Mayfield has thrown at least three touchdowns in seven games this season, which includes a seven-touchdown game against Texas Tech back on October 22. His performance on Saturday cemented his legacy as one of the best quarterbacks in school history.

For Mayfield, he has done everything he can to be included as a finalist for this year’s Heisman Trophy. While he is likely not going to win it this year, his performance this season should make him a front-runner for the award next season. The junior does not quite have the size to be a big-time NFL prospect, but boy is he fun to watch at the collegiate level.
