High Value SG

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope-Detroit Pistons (5,700): KCP will have to adjust his role now that Reggie Jackson is back for Detroit. Caldwell-Pope had been scoring a ton of points from his off-guard spot when working with Ish Smith, but only had nine points on Sunday in Jackson’s return. He still managed 24.8 fantasy points on 9-9-4 but may get fewer shots with Jackson back in the lineup. He was rolling right along before Jackson’s return with at least 30 fantasy points in six of his previous seven games. If he gets back to that level he’ll be a good play tonight, but he’s riskier than before when he was the primary shooter in the Pistons’ backcourt.

Evan Fournier-Orlando Magic (5,600): Fournier is a boom-or-bust play in his current role with the Magic as their primary offensive option in the starting five. He had 47.7 fantasy points last Sunday in Milwaukee for his biggest “boom” of the season, but he only managed 12.2 fantasy points this past Sunday against KCP and the Pistons in a pretty big “bust.” In between, he posted three games over 25 fantasy points including scoring 28 points in Memphis last Thursday. Fournier struggled in his first matchup with Washington, but he’ll look to improve on that line as he goes head-to-head with Bradley Beal tonight.

Wayne Ellington-Miami Heat (4,300): With the Heat short on wing options, Ellington ended up in the starting lineup on Saturday  against the Blazers and played 39 minutes in Miami’s loss. He has 12-2-3 for 17.9 fantasy points in that expanded role, but he did show he can be more productive than that with 34.4 fantasy points in Denver earlier on the road trip. Ellington should get the minutes again tonight, but whether he adds enough non-scoring numbers to be a great value play remains to be seen.

Troy Daniels-Memphis Grizzlies (4,200):  Another scoring-first option at 4,200 tonight is Troy Daniels of the Grizzlies who has come up huge in their last four games. Daniels has scored 19, 19, 31, and 29 points in those four games and has over 30 fantasy points in each of his last two games. Tonight, he’ll get a good matchup against the 76ers who struggle defending opposing wing scorers (see Barton, Will from last night), and I think Daniels has a ton of upside to target even though he played 44 minutes last night and doesn’t add many non-scoring numbers.

Nik Stauskas-Philadlephia 76ers (3,700): “Sauce Castillo” got a huge minutes bump last night with Robert Covington out of action for the Sixers, but he still had a underwhelming fantasy night  and only finished with 14.1 fantasy points in 35 minutes of action. The minutes should be there again tonight, but his production has been hit or miss (mostly the latter) over the last few weeks.
