Five reasons why Jabrill Peppers should win the Heisman
By Connor Learn
1. Peppers brings immeasurable value
It’s impossible to quantify every variable that makes a football player truly great. Statistics don’t tell the entire picture. How a player makes his teammates better, rises to the moment, and how he’s able to impact the game just by being in it. Great players almost always play for winning teams both because of the level of their play and their ability to make teammates better.
Peppers’ impact goes beyond the box score. The energy he brings to the game and sidelines elevates teammates. His willingness to do whatever it takes to help Michigan win was surely mirrored by others. The football IQ that prompted Harbaugh to compare him to Andrew Luck helps Michigan win. He has stayed humble during his success and credits his teammates for helping him achieve it.

“Most outstanding” is synonymous with “greatest.” “Most outstanding” is not synonymous with “best quarterback.” Peppers’ play during the season set him apart from his peers, surely. But the other variables he brought to Michigan’s success make him truly a great player. Others deserve credit for the Wolverines success, and Peppers would be the first to acknowledge that. Ultimately, though, Peppers is the most outstanding player in college football. Heisman voters would be right to give him their vote.
