CFP National Championship: Ohio State vs. Alabama – Jan. 9, 8 p.m. ET

So here we are, finally making it to the finale of the college football season with a National Championship on the line. It’ll be the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ohio State Buckeyes squaring off in a matchup that many could’ve predicted would be happening prior to the start of the 2016 season. However, I’m not particularly sure that’s going to spell out the recipe for a quality contest on Jan. 9.

These may well be the two best teams in the entire country and Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are without question two of the best coaches still on the sidelines. However, there has been a distinct separation of teams in college football. And make no mistake, the ball-hawking defensive attack of Ohio State along with their J.T. Barrett led offense has them among the upper-echelon of teams in college football. But above them and everyone else is the Tide, rolling.

For a program under Saban that is known for their defense and the talent they produce on that side of the ball, you could make the argument that this is the best unit that he’s ever coached in Tuscaloosa. There is NFL caliber talent at every level of the defense—and potential superstar talent at that. When you factor that into the equation that includes the most dynamic quarterback that Saban has ever coached at Bama, Jalen Hurts, there’s just no way even Ohio State can match up with the Tide.

Another year, another Alabama national title. Ho-hum.

Prediction: Ohio State: 24, Alabama: 41
