College Football Bowls 2016: 10 potential breakout players
Washington State had an impressive season and nearly came out of the Pac-12 North, losing in the final game of the season against Washington to get eliminated from title competition. Still, the Cougars looked like one of the more consistent teams from the conference, finishing the season 8-4 thanks to junior gunslinger Luke Falk.
Falk, in his third season as the starter, would have likely been under Heisman Trophy consideration had he been playing for a national title contender and all you need to do is look at his numbers to realize that.
The junior finished the regular season with 4,201 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 71 percent of his throws. I bet you didn’t know he was one of the nation’s top passers because he doesn’t get as much recognition even in his own state, as Jake Browning of Washington makes the headlines.
Needing just 358 yards and two touchdowns to surpass his totals from last year, Falk will need to play one of his best games against Minnesota in the Holiday Bowl, and with the Washington State offense clicking, it’ll be tough for the Golden Gophers to slow them down.
If he surpasses 300 yards against the Gophers, that would be his 10th time doing so this season.
