player. 42. . QB. UNC. Mitch Trubisky. 2

The San Francisco 49ers are absolutely awful on offense, and it looks like they are going to need upgrades all over the roster. Running back Carlos Hyde is a nice piece, but he cannot shine in an offense that has the likes of Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert running it. The 49ers need to reach on a quarterback in round one, and though he may not be considered a franchise signal-caller at this point, Mitch Trubisky is the best available option in this draft class.

Trubisky is incredibly accurate, and his skill set translates well to the pro game. Head coach Chip Kelly needs a player that is not going to make the big mistake, and Trubisky has the best decision-making ability of the other quarterbacks in this draft. He completed over 70 percent of his passes during his only season starting for the North Carolina Tarheels, and while that is an unlikely scenario at the pro level, he is accurate enough to move the ball consistently during his rookie season.

There is no telling what the ceiling is going to be on a guy like Trubisky, as there just is not enough tape on him at the collegiate level. Still, the 49ers need to upgrade the position immediately, and the youngster should be able to come in and run an NFL offense right away. He is going to have a lot of bumps in the road, but if he can grow like last year’s No. 2 pick Carson Wentz, the 49ers should be set at the position for the foreseeable future.
