2017 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rule all
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins got some good news on Monday, as it was discovered that quarterback Ryan Tannehill would not be lost for the season. The team originally though he had a torn ACL, but the injury turned out to be a sprain of his ACL and MCL. Miami has played much better than advertised this season, and with their win on Sunday, have now won seven of their last eight games.
Jay Ajayi has blossomed into a solid running back, and Tannehill is playing the best football of his career. The offense for Miami looks pretty solid, as most of their better players are young. However, their defense needs a playmaker up front, and more specifically, someone who can get after the quarterback. The University of Tennessee has just the player, and he would be perfect in Miami.
Derek Barnett is one of the more explosive players in college football, and is incredible at getting after the quarterback. Miami has done a nice job this season playing with a mediocre defense, so upgrading along the defensive line is definitely going to be a priority. The good thing about Barnett is that he can also fill in at linebacker, as he has the speed to get back in coverage, and the size to play the position as well.
