2017 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rule all
By Brad Weiss
It was a huge win for the Kansas City Chiefs this past weekend, as they flew past the Oakland Raiders and into first place in the AFC West. The Chiefs did a nice job moving the ball against the Raiders defense, and came away with a solid victory at home. At 10-3, the Chiefs are locked in as the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs, and could be headed to a Super Bowl appearance in February.
Despite their solid record, the Chiefs are lacking playmakers on their offense. Tyreek Hill has emerged as a nice weapon in the return, and passing game, and Jeremy Maclin is always good for a big play or two per game. However, the lack of a running game has hurt, and there is not telling what is going to happen when Jamaal Charles comes back.
While it may be a stretch, I think the Chiefs should draft Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey late in the first round. McCaffrey has proven during his time with the Cardinal that he can be used all over the field, and would give quarterback Alex Smith a nice option out of the backfield. Even if Charles comes back fairly healthy next season, he would benefit from having a guy like McCaffrey with him on the roster giving the Chiefs some talented options at the running back spot.
