Chris Petersen has been a splash hire thus far for Washington. In his three years, the former Boise State head coach has gone 27-13 and has led the Huskies to their first College Football Playoff berth.

The Huskies rank in the top 25 in terms of all-time wins and their winning percentage of 61.5 is also quite impressive. They’ve always had a rich history, but Petersen is bringing success back to the program after a 16-year conference title drought.

Washington hadn’t won a conference title since 2000 until this season, when it beat Colorado in the Pac-12 Championship. This year was also the Huskies’ first division title season since 2000 and the Pac-12 crown in 2016 makes 16 all-time conference championships for the program.

Besides those 16 conference titles, the Huskies also have two claimed national titles and the most recent came in 1991. Before that, the only claimed championship took place in 1960. They also have three unclaimed national crowns. Washington’s bowl record is 18-17-1 in school history and Don James won 10 of those from 1975-92.

Washington has developed 21 consensus All-Americans but no Heismans. Some notable former players are Jermaine Kearse, Warren Moon, Marcus Peters, Desmond Trufant and Shaq Thompson. The Huskies also currently have a quarterback in Jake Browning who might just be the No. 1 selection in next year’s NFL draft.
