Ranking the top 50 college football programs of all time
Navy ranks 32nd on the all-time college football program wins list and 23rd among current FBS schools. The Midshipmen have won 695 games all-time and claimed a national title back in 1926.
It’s been a while since the Midshipmen last contended for a national title, but they’ve still impressed in recent years under Ken Niumatalolo. The head coach has been one of the best in the country and receives very little credit or attention.
Niumatalolo played at Navy from 1995-97 and wound up as the offensive coordinator right out of college. He went to UNLV for a few years and then came back as an assistant and offensive line coach until he took over as head coach in 2007. Since then, he has gone 77-40, coming in first place in the AAC West division for the past two years.
The 10th-year head coach has the most wins in Navy history, and is also the only coach to have taken charge of the Midshipmen in over 100 games.
The Midshipmen have been a force for some time and even have two Heisman winners to their name. Joe Bellino won in 1960 and the great Roger Staubach won the award in 1963.
They are 10-10-1 in bowl games and have made five straight under Niumatalolo.
