Saban may be on college football coaching’s Mount Rushmore, but he does have a worthy adversary in Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer. Meyer is younger than Saban, but maybe the best big game coach we’ve seen in the college game in decades.

In four stops as a head coach (Bowling Green State, Utah, Florida, Ohio State), Meyer has gone 165-28 overall, 99-20 in conference play, and a ridiculous 10-2 in bowl games. Keep in mind that his 2012 Ohio State team went undefeated at 12-0, but was on probation and couldn’t compete for a national title.

Meyer has won three national titles (2006, 2008, 2014), earned two trips to the College Football Playoff, won five conference championships, and a share of 10 division titles. Nobody is better at taking advantage of preparing for a holiday season bowl that Meyer.

Ohio State will face No. 3 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl in the 2017 College Football Playoff. Meyer’s all-time bowl record can be no worse than 10-3 this season and could be as good as 12-2. Ohio State may be young as a team this year, but Meyer is the only coach that can continuously match Saban in the college ranks.
