12. Angel Pagan, OF

Angel Pagan is set to enter his 12th season in the major leagues, and it’s hard to argue with the production he has put up to date. Pagan has a very solid .280/.330/.408 slash line with 55 triples and 176 stolen bases. He has also been a part of two World Series championships.

The biggest knock against Pagan has been his ability to stay on the field. He has played over 150 games only twice in his career, and would have played in a third World Series in 2014 had he not been injured. A hamstring injury landed him on the DL last season. In 2015, knee tendinitis caused him to miss games. The year before that, it was a bad back, and it was a hamstring problem in 2013. See a trend developing?

Pagan has played an average of 107 games over the past four years, and though he managed close to 130 in 2015 and 2016, there will always be a sense that he is on the verge of a trip to the DL. The numbers do speak for themselves, however, and when Pagan can play, he is a dependable outfielder with good on-base skills, an ability to put the ball in play, speed, and a little bit of pop. He hit a career-high 12 home runs last year, and hit 15 triples in 2012. The switch-hitting Pagan is a great fit for the Baltimore Orioles who could use a right fielder who can handle the bat well and avoid empty trips to the plate.
