NFL Mock Draft: Week 16
By Brad Weiss
The Philadelphia Eagles made a nice pick in last April’s draft, as they selected Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick. While Wentz has come back down to earth after a stellar start to the season, he is definitely a franchise quarterback, and should continue to get better. While he does need some weapons on the outside, the main issue in Philadelphia has been the play of their defense, with their secondary being the weakest link of the unit.
The 2017 NFL Draft is full of good defensive backs, and two of them happen to be Florida Gators. While we fully expect Quincy Wilson to be the second cornerback off the board next April, his teammate, Teez Tabor, should not be far behind. Tabor was so dominant at Florida that teams just stopped throwing his way, which was a testament to his talent at the position.
Playing cornerback in the NFL is one of the harder positions in the game, and it requires speed and size to be effective. The Eagles need someone who is going to come in and lead the unit, and Tabor has not only the physical ability, but he has the swagger to not be overwhelmed at the next level. The NFC East is loaded with talent at the quarterback position, so bolstering the cornerback spot will definitely be a priority for Philly come April.
