1. Their fans hate each other

The players have a mutual respect and disdain for one another. Their fans? They hate each other. No sugar coating it. They just flat out don’t like each other and the entire internet is forced to witness their shouting matches on a public stage. Cleveland fans think Golden State is full of pretentious whiners that try to justify Draymond Green’s kicks despite the fact that he’s CLEARLY a dirty player. Steph Curry is a pretender to the throne of LeBron James and now that Cleveland has finally won their elusive championship a dynasty of Ohio will begin anew. Durant’s a bum that was too scared to play a better team, and Klay Thompson’s facial hair is wack. Oh and did you know, Golden State blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals with the first unanimous MVP in NBA history, after a 73 win season?

Golden State fans think Cleveland is full of hick bums that love GRITTY players like Matthew Dellavedova’s dirty ass. Their city is a winter hell hole that only those forced to live in will ever accept. They’re the least lovable losers in the history of sports, and the only reason they’re relevant is because LeBron was born 45 minutes south. They didn’t earn their championship like Golden State did. If it hadn’t been for Curry being hurt and that bullcrap suspension of Draymond Green, the Warriors would be 2-0 and this wouldn’t be a discussion. We got Kevin Durant. #Lightyears

The ironic part of these two sides hating each other is the similarities between the two. Both were tortured fanbases that witnessed decades of incompetence on a consistent basis. There was a quick turnaround that led to unexpected success, and they allowed that success to go entirely to their head. They’re cocky, arrogant, and want everybody to acknowledge that their favorite team is the best and all others are trash. The real reason both fanbases hate each other so much is cause they’re looking at a mirror.

The best rivalries don’t just feature great games with historic teams, or national relevance, but a group of fans that want to see nothing more than for the other side to lose. It’s why rivalry games matter at all, and right now nothing comes close to Golden State and Cleveland.
