A Christmas Story Marathon 2016 start time on TBS
The annual 24 hours of A Christmas Story kicks off on Christmas Eve and runs through Christmas Day on TBS and TNT.
It has become a cherished part of Christmas celebrations across the nation: 24 solid hours of A Christmas Story over the Christmas holiday. On Christmas Eve families tune in for 24 hours of A Christmas Story, which kicks off at 8 pm ET on TBS and TNT and continues through to 8pm on Christmas Day.
A Christmas Story is the 1983 film chronicling the adventures of young Ralphie and his family as they get ready for the arrival of the Big Man himself—Santa Claus. Ralphie has his heart set on one gift which, he says, is the ultimate Christmas present for any boy his age—a Red Rider BB Gun—but his quest for the Holy Grail of Gifts is thwarted by claims of “you’ll shoot your eye out.” In fact, Ralphie believes that it’s a conspiracy operating against him, as he hears the same thing from his mother, his teacher, and others. Will Santa be able to save the day for Ralphie?
The classic holiday film is set in 1940s Ohio but it was released in 1983. The sleeper hit was not a huge box office success but eventually gained cult status, with fans flocking to Cleveland to visit the house where the movie was filmed. The film resonates with fans who see bits of their own family in the movie, from the overworked mother to the bumbling but lovable Old Man, and the little brother who wants to tag along everywhere you go.
Some of the iconic images from the film include the “major award” leg lamp and Ralphie’s “pink nightmare” bunny suit.
This year TBS and TNT are starting the marathon at the same time. In the past the channels staggered the start times so that you could tune in every hour to catch the beginning of the movie. However, this year they will be running simultaneously.
24 hours of A Christmas Story begins at 8pm on December 24th on TBS and TNT.
