Dalvin Cook

RB, Florida State

There’s a good chance that Florida State running back Dalvin Cook goes much earlier than 23rd overall. However, if he winds up falling this late in the first round, a team like the New York Giants would be thrilled to draft him with the No. 24 overall pick.

Although Fournette is the No. 1 running back in this class, the gap between him and Cook might be a lot closer than you’d think. Cook is a home-run hitter with the vision and acceleration to break away and score from anywhere on the field.

This season, the Florida State running back was able to rack up over 2,200 total yards with 20 total touchdowns, showing off that explosiveness on a weekly basis.

What also helps Cook stand out is his great balance to stay upright and fight through contact. He’s still becoming a more consistent blocker in pass protection and drops passes from time to time, but he should be able to develop into an every-down back quickly.

The Giants have lacked a true workhorse running back, but adding Cook to an offense with playmakers like Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard could give them one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL.
