John Ross

WR, Washington

There are plenty of other more pressing needs for the New England Patriots, but Bill Belichick is the kind of guy that isn’t afraid of taking a player who starts sliding in the draft. Washington’s John Ross could very well go in the first 15 picks, but if he slides all the way to the bottom of the first round, the Patriots could get an absolute steal of a wide receiver.

Ross is a point guard playing wide receiver, showcasing some beautiful footwork that allows him to consistently create separation on defenders. He’s an explosive vertical threat with the elusiveness to make big plays after the catch, reminding me a lot of a guy like DeSean Jackson.

He doesn’t have the size of a guy like Williams or Davis, but Ross is a more exciting player to watch. The Patriots have some decent receivers on their roster, but Ross would have no problem finding playing time if he could gain the trust of Tom Brady.

Don’t sleep on Ross, because he could have the most successful career of any receiver in this draft class.
