Corey Davis

WR, Western Michigan

Another injury to Keenan Allen revealed that the San Diego Chargers have some serious problems with depth at the wide receiver position. Even with Allen expected to return for the start of the 2017 season, the Chargers would be wise to give Philip Rivers another weapon to work with as his career winds down.

Depending on what kind of receiver the Chargers are looking for, they could pick one of two guys with the No. 7 overall pick. Western Michigan’s Corey Davis would be a very suitable pick to play on the outside.

Davis’ production can’t be questioned considering he’s the FBS record holder for career receiving yards. He’s got great size at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds and he’s extremely tough to bring down after the catch.

Sure, Davis isn’t the fastest guy on the field, but he’s an excellent route runner who is more than capable of picking up extra yards after the catch. With Davis and Allen playing on the outside, Rivers could have one of the best years of his career next season at 35 years old.

Hopefully the Chargers can find a new head coach who could utilize someone like Davis to help transform San Diego’s offense into one of the most dangerous in the NFL.
