DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 5
High Value SF
T.J. Warren-Phoenix Suns (5,100): Warren has turned into a roll of the dice since returning from a head injury that cost him the end of November and the beginning of December. He went off on Monday with 24-8-2 for 40 fantasy points against the Clippers, but he only played 17 minutes the next night and had 3.5 fantasy points. He’s definitely someone to avoid on a back-to-back, but tonight Phoenix is coming to the floor in Dallas after a day off yesterday. “Tony Buckets” is high-risk, high-reward, but he has a very high ceiling which makes him worth a look.∗
Maurice Harkless-Portland Trail Blazers (4,800): On the other end of the risk specctrum but with a much lower ceiling is the steady Maurice Harkless. He has at least 20 fantasy points in five straight and eight of his last nine without ever getting more than 29 fantasy points. He is a much “safer” play than Warren, but you don’t get the high ceiling. On thing in his favor tonight is that the Lakers do allow the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing SF, and LA could be without Luol Deng (questionable-biceps tendinitis) which would leave then even more shorthanded at SF.∗∗∗
Bojan Bogdanovic-Brooklyn Nets (4,000): If you need a cheap play with upside, Bogdanovic should get extra run tonight with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson already ruled out. Bogdan can definitely fill it up when he’s on like he was when he had 26 points on the 26 of December, but he hasn’t gotten 21 fantasy points in his three games since. He’ll get his shots tonight, and if he starts hitting he could end up being quite the value, but there is significant risk involved too.∗∗
