The Chicago Bulls are in need of a new lease on life. There’s no doubt that Jimmy Butler is among the best players in the league after his remarkable outings lately, but the additions of Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade and Michael Carter-Williams have gone about as well as expected. Chicago just needs to snag the best player available and go from there once it has a more serviceable talent base.
Michigan State’s Miles Bridges is the best player on the board left at 13. The 6-foot-7 combo forward has led the Spartans in per game scoring this season, but has missed seven games with an ankle injury. Playing mostly in the power forward spot, he’s able to take advantage of mismatches on the offensive end of the floor, especially because his 3-pointer has been falling (38.5 percent). Bridges may never be a primary scorer on a roster, but he offers a good complimentary piece who can use his energy to generate buckets slashing or as a spot up shooter.
Defensively, the hope is that the stout Bridges can develop into a multi-positional defender. His athleticism, toughness and instincts shine on that end of the floor. The 18-year old has also been a good rebounder, grabbing 10.8 per 40 minutes.
