Loser: Wisconsin Badgers (No. 13 down to No. 18)

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised by how far Wisconsin fell in the rankings after losing at Purdue on Sunday evening. The Badgers looked like the best team in the Big Ten up until that contest and the five-spot drop seemed a little drastic, especially given the fact that they took down then-No. 25 Indiana on the road earlier in the week.

Winning at Assembly Hall is no joke and Tom Crean’s team might be struggling mightily right now, but the Hoosiers have the talent to be a Final Four team. Heck, there’s a reason why they took down Kansas and North Carolina already this year. However, the voters didn’t view Wisconsin’s seven-point road win over Indiana as good enough to keep it in the top 15.

Purdue did own the Badgers all game long, though. The Boilermakers took the lead early on, extended it and never looked back. It was just one of those games for Wisconsin where nothing could go right.

The Badgers are still in good shape and tied atop the conference standings with a 3-1 record. It’s going to be that type of season in the Big Ten where everyone beats up on each other as there are already no undefeated teams left in conference play.

Wisconsin may have dropped, but the Badgers will be back up soon enough.
