3. He’s seven feet tall?

This one is just for those who thought that the first two plays may be a fluke. For those people who think that Joel Embiid doesn’t do ridiculous things for a center.

Joel Embiid collects a casual steal at the perimeter and doesn’t look to outlet the ball, as most bigs would. He immediately turns up court and is playing 2-2 against Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith. He fakes right and does a one-two eurostep right between the defenders for an easy two points. What’s more, he made it look impossibly easy.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has made 7-footers eurostepping look routine, but Embiid is 250 pounds as well. He actually plays center. He’s shot league average on 3-pointers as a rookie on over three attempts per game. His unique combination of skills, not to mention his strong social media presence, has made him many fans this season.

Embiid has received an impressive amount of All-Star votes during his rookie season. He currently has the fourth most votes in the Eastern Conference frontcourt, just ahead of Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Butler. He has campaigned for himself some, but his play does most of that work. It’s moments like this eurostep that make people buy into his potential and ultimately become fans.
