What to love: Villanova’s Josh Hart is the total package in terms of college basketball shooting guards. Hart developed a reputation during his sophomore season for being a dogged and versatile defender who does the little things to help his team win. As a junior, he filled a larger role as a scorer for the Wildcats and now, as a senior, he has become one of the team’s top playmakers. On offense, Hart has made 37.9 percent of his 446 career 3-point attempts in college and is an excellent pick-and-roll ballhandler. Defensively, he is a capable wing defender who can potentially guard multiple positions at the next level. In the NBA, he should be a great role-player who can fill the gaps wherever a team needs him.
What to hate: Hart will be 22-years old by the time the draft rolls around, which makes him an old man in terms of the prospects in this draft class. Add in the fact that he’s not an elite athlete and there are reasonable questions to be asked about how much better Hart can be. Intelligent and skilled role-players aren’t always the most attractive draft picks for fanbases, but it’s tough to see Hart missing the mark in terms of being a relevant rotation piece wherever he lands.
