DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 23
High Value C
Marcin Gortat-Washington Wizards (5,800): The last time the Wiz and Hornets clashed, Gortat had an impressive double-double with 16-12-2 and around 40 fantasy points. However, his recent form has been slightly less astounding and he has been held under 32 fantasy points in each of his last eight games. He is showing some signs of turnign things back around, though with 12 points and over 27 fantasy points in each of his last two games. There is upside against the Hornets tonight, but he does come with risk too since he even struggled to just 17 fantasy points in a great matchup against Portland last week.∗∗
Clint Capela-Houston Rockets (4,000): If you have to go cheap at center and can afford the risk, Clint Capela is a great boom-or-bust option tonight against Milwaukee at a tantalizingly affordable 4,000. He has only played four games since returnign from a fractured fibula, but he looked good in each of his last two games last week including a 43-fantasy-point game against the Warriors when he has 22-12-1 with a block and a steal. Capela played just 16 minutes the next night and had 15 fantasy points, but after a day off yesterday, I think he’ll be ready to go off again tonight against Milwaukee. He’s definitely risky, but I love the upside at just 4K..∗∗
Dewayne Dedmon-San Antonio Spurs (3,500): Another cheap center with potential to produce is Dwayne Dedmon who should need to play more minutes for the Spurs with Pau Gasol out. However, he only played ten minutes against the Cavs in the Spurs overtime win on Saturday. At some point, I think he’ll get 20+ minutes since I don’t think David Lee can play 35 minutes a night. When he does get time, Dedmon has shown he can pick up good points, boards, and blocks. Tonight, though, hi is high risk since the playing time hasn’t been given to him in the two games without Gasol.∗
