National Signing Day 2017: Predicting where top 25 uncommitted recruits sign
- High School: Robert E. Lee
- Composite Rankings: No. 77, No. 11 WR
Henry Ruggs III has quickly ascended the composite rankings lately. He has yet to commit to a program but it doesn’t appear to be any secret about where he is going to play football next year. The Alabama native will likely choose the Crimson Tide and play for head coach Nick Saban.
He’s got great speed at 6-0 and 175 pounds that makes the thought of him catching passes from Jalen Hurts a fun one. While other schools have been trying to get this late riser to come to their program, Ruggs III has the perfect opportunity in Alabama.
With the Crimson Tide set to lose some of their top receivers to the NFL Draft, they will need plenty of recruits to come in and help their budding superstar quarterback. Ruggs III also will be a weapon out of the backfield as well.
We saw several times throughout the year and in the College Football Playoff that the Alabama offense can bust out the trick plays. On the biggest drive of their season in the National Championship Game, offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian called for a wide receiver pass. Ruggs might not ever pass the ball but it would be foolish to think he will only be catching passes.
He ran the ball several times in high school and his ability to do a variety of things will make him a weapon on offense. It’s probably not fun for other programs to hear that Alabama will likely land another incredible recruit. That’s just life in the SEC these days.
Prediction: Alabama
