4. Milwaukee Bucks

This bridge may have already been burned with the abrupt manner of Larry Sanders’ departure almost two years ago, but if he’s gotten the help that he needs, can we ignore how he flourished with this team once upon a time? And can we overlook how the Milwaukee Bucks could really use a starting-caliber center?

True enough, the Bucks are plenty stocked at the center spot already, with John Henson, Miles Plumlee, super-sub Greg Monroe and rookie Thon Maker all on the roster. But Plumlee’s contract was an overinflated disaster the moment he signed it, Maker isn’t ready yet and Henson has largely underwhelmed after the Bucks gave him a contract extension in 2015.

Taking a flier on Sanders would put him in an environment he’s comfortable with and if he found his footing quick enough, the Bucks could put Plumlee and/or Henson on the trade block before the Feb. 23 deadline.

Milwaukee looked promising enough despite the absence of Khris Middleton, but have since stumbled to 21-24 — one game out of the playoff picture. Sanders might inject life, length and rim protection into a lineup that could use all three of those things.

It might be better for both sides to stay apart considering the way things ended, but there’s also a familiarity there and a need that can’t be ignored. The Bucks would need to waive or trade someone, however, since they already have 15 players.
