Conor McDermott

Offensive Tackle, UCLA Bruins

To be fair, even the players that had rough weeks in Mobile weren’t playing all that badly. This is the kind of thing that happens the best players go head-to-head. However, there were two players that had horrible weeks at the Senior Bowl. The first was UCLA Bruins offensive tackle Conor McDermott.

McDermott came into the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl as CBS‘ No. 8 offensive tackle in his draft class with a second to third-round grade. He came out of it as a certain day three pick. McDermott was measured as the tallest guy in Mobile at six feet, eight inches.

He did not use him length effectively. His pad level was horrible, as anybody could push him around for his complete lack of leverage. The only time he could stop anybody was by holding them. Even Davenport showed why he was there because he could set the edge.

Frankly, McDermott kind of epitomized why UCLA was a terrible football team in 2016. He didn’t really compete and was just getting whooped by every pass rusher he went up against. Being 6-foot 8 will help him get drafted. Are we even sure he won more than three reps all weekend?
