Davis Webb

Quarterback, California Golden Bears

It took until the third day of Senior Bowl practice, but it eventually became obvious that California Golden Bears quarterback Davis Webb was the best of the six signal callers in Mobile this week. He won MVP of the 2017 Senior Bowl quarterbacking the South. Webb completed 11 of 16 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown.

Despite never playing under center before this week, Webb shined through Jackson’s coaching. He was never fazed in any of his series this weekend. Webb had no problem going vertical in the passing game. He was very precise with his throws all week and played with great pocket presence.

Webb had great command of the huddle and it was clear that he is the only NFL quarterback at the Senior Bowl. He’s not going to start in 2017, but will be better than his fourth-to-fifth round grade by CBS. Webb is better than the No. 7 quarterback off the board. He’s not going better than fourth, but he could be the second-best quarterback in this draft when it is all said and done.

Frankly, he’s a superior prospect to the guy he replaced in Cal: Los Angeles Rams’ 2016 No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff. It looks like the Rams goofed. Webb is a third-round quarterback and a promising prospect at that. He was outstanding in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
