Zay Jones

Wide Receiver, East Carolina Pirates

Temple’s Reddick may have won Senior Bowl practice, but East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones was easily the most dominant player in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl. He had six catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Jones should have had two more touchdowns, but Peterman struggled with his accuracy in crucial moments.

CBS has Jones as the No. 12 wide receiver in the 2017 NFL Draft Class. He’s easily top-10 now, and probably better than the certain third-round grade he garnered pre-Senior Bowl. Jones had this undeniable pass-catching ability you would only see from a seasoned NFL veteran.

It’s debatable about how good of a route runner he is, but Jones was fast, physical, and owns a great pair of hands. Competition brought out the best in him again. He did have a 22-catch performance against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the regular season. Jones is also the son of former three-time Super Bowl champion Robert Jones with the Dallas Cowboys.

If any team needs a strong No. 2 wide receiver, Jones is the guy coming out in this draft. He gave off a bit of an Eric Decker/Mohamed Sanu vibe in the Senior Bowl. Jones might be a great fantasy football sleeper in 2017. He gained the most out of anybody in Mobile this week.
