College Basketball Power Rankings: Week 13
24. Florida Gators
Florida ended its slide with a pair of comfortable wins to jump back into the top 25, setting up a huge showdown in Gainesville on Saturday evening.
After cruising through the early portion of SEC play, the Gators started to run into trouble in an ugly overtime home win against a middling Georgia team on Jan. 14. The following loss to South Carolina wasn’t too concerning, but the Gators went on to drop a game at home to a Vanderbilt team that is below .500 a few days later.
Michael White got his team turned around with blowout road wins over LSU and Oklahoma in Week 12 to move to 16-5 overall. While neither team is particularly good, Florida looked much better on the offensive end of the floor following one of the worst shooting performances of the year against the Gamecocks.
It hasn’t been pretty at times, but the Gators do rank 24th in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency metric, and have to be happy with the recent performances of forward Devin Robinson. Florida is one of the best teams in the nation on defense, so generating enough offense will be the main concern come March.
Guard Canyon Berry only ended up missing one game with a sprained ankle before scoring 15 points against the Sooners, which is great news for Florida. The Gators will host Missouri before taking on a Kentucky team that suddenly looks vulnerable on Saturday night in Gainesville.
