LSU Tigers

,

Known for their defense, the LSU Tigers were all about re-tooling that unit for the future throughout the entire recruiting process. That’swhat they were able to do early as they added a pair of safeties, JaCoby Stevens and Grant Delpit (Nos. 1 and 9 at the position), prior to Wednesday’s festivities. However, they only further added to their biggest strength with who they inked on NSD:

K’Lavon Chaisson is the big get for them, obviously, as the No. 4 rated weak-side defensive end spurned his home-state program of Texas to head to Baton Rouge. He’s an explosive athlete, which is in contract to the mammoth Tyler Shelvin at defensive tackle (6-2.5, 376 pounds), who LSU also was able to sign on National Signing Day. They didn’t neglect the offensive side of the ball, though their strength remained on defense. Myles Brennan could be a wonderful prospect as he’s the No. 6 ranked pro-style quarterback. Moreover, the Tigers did their job in landing lineman to make sure whoever is playing quarterback for the future is protected.

However, it’s impossible to talk about LSU without mentioning the disappointment that their day ended with. They were in the running for the last remaining five-star recruit that was unsigned, Marvin Wilson. However, they were unable to ink the forceful defensive tackle as he signed with Florida State. Even if that’s a sour note to go out on, though, National Signing Day helped Ed Orgeron and the Tigers get ready for a long, productive future where they’ll again be anchored by their defense.
