FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-February 1
High Salary SF
LeBron James-Cleveland Cavaliers (11,000): LeBron will take his new edge to the floor tonight as he and the Cavs try to shake off a rough January and start off February with a good game against the Timberwolves. Everyone is expecting James to explode and go huge given his recent public sparring matches with Cavs’ management and Charles Barkley. However, James has only reached 55+ fantasy points one time in his last six games and twice in his last 12. He did have a strong 23-9-9 for 46.3 fantasy points against the Mavericks on Monday, but even that kind of line will be an under-value total for James since his price is now 11K. With that being said, he should be motivated to bring us “playoff LeBron” or something close to it tonight which could reesult in a massive line and a dominant game.∗∗
Paul George-Indiana Pacers (9,500): PG13 has at least 42 fantasy points in four straight and is coming off a big game on Sunday against the Rockets when he had 33-9-3 for 50.3 fantasy points. Tonight, he gets a great matchup with Orlando who has allowed the third-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing SF over their last five games and the fifth-most on the season. George has been shooting extremely well and will look to keep that rolling tonight. He’s less risk than dropping 11K on James as he looks to score 30 points for the fifth straight game.∗∗∗
Jimmy Butler-Chicago Bulls (9,500): January was a rough month for the Bulls in general and Jimmy Butler specifically. He finished it on a high-note, though, with 28-8-7 and 53.1 fantasy points against the Sixers. He has four games over 50 fantasy points in his last nine games and his only really ugly game was when he came off the bench as punishment and totaled only 8.6 fantasy points on 3-3-2. Tonight, he should be ready to go toe-to-toe with Russell Westbrook in what should be a fun game to watch in OKC. Remember, Kawhi Leonard ripped up the Thunder SF defense last night in San Antonio and Butler should be well rested after not playing since Sunday.∗∗∗∗
Carmelo Anthony-New York Knicks (8,500): Melo gets a great matchup against the Nets who are the worst team in the NBa at defending opposing SF. Anthony only had 31 fantasy points last night on 26-5-0, but he has at least that many points in seven straight including three games with at least 47 fantasy points. There is risk of a blowout, but if he plays his usual minutes I like Melo very much in this matchup.∗∗∗
Harrison Barnes-Dallas Mavericks (6,700): Barnes came up big for Dallas against LeBron and the Cavs on Monday totaling 40.7 fantasy points on 24-11-3 and a steal. He has at least 32 fantasy points in three of his last four and has shaken off a bit of slump from the middle of the month. The 76ers were horrible against opposing SF early in the season, but they have gotten much better lately, so it’s not as great a matchup as earlier in the year when he would have been a must-play.∗∗∗
Robert Covington-Philadelphia 76ers (6,400): On the other side of that same matchup, Covington has been lighting it up his last two games with big double-dobules against the Bulls (21-12-3, 50.9 fantasy points) and Kings (23-10-2, 44 fantasy points). He will look to continue that production tonight and continue helping the Sixers turn things around. He has at least 30 fantasy points in five of his last seven.∗∗
