Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2017 class because of his unique combination of size and skill. At 6-foot-11, he has ideal size for a player who can slot in at either forward spot. Offensively, he is able to release his 3-point shot over most defenders and has converted 36.2 percent of his attempts this season. He has a decent ability to attack in a straight line drive as well. Overall, Isaac’s 64.3 true shooting percentage also ranks as the second highest mark among prospects in the DraftExpress top 100.
Defensively, Isaac’s size creates some intriguing possibilities. He leads all small forwards in the DraftExpress database with a pace adjusted 12.0 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per 40 minutes. His ability to provide weakside rim protection should be valuable at the next level as should his height when it comes to ending defensive possessions.
Isaac is still a raw talent and his physical frame shows it. He needs to add much more strength after experiencing a late growth spurt, but he’s got the skills of a guard at 6-foot-11 and that’s what makes him to impressive. He would pair nicely with Anthony Davis at either forward position.
