Paul Pierce showed up for his last game at the TD Garden in Boston, MA ready to support the New England Patriots.

Paul Pierce is in the last year of a terrific NBA career. It saw him star for the Boston Celtics from 1998-2013 as the team’s franchise player, including winning an NBA Championship. He then got traded to the Brooklyn Nets during the team’s rebuilding phase, signed with the Washington Wizards, and is now finishing his career with the Los Angeles Clippers. Pierce is averaging a career-low 3.8 points per game and has played in just 12 contests in 2016-17.

On Sunday, Pierce is playing one last game at the TD Garden, the venue which saw him become an icon in Boston. Upon arrival to the arena, he showed up in New England Patriots gear with a hat, shirt, and jacket to go along that represented the team logo or colors. This is for the team playing in Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons.

Pierce spent 15 years in Boston, so him supporting the Patriots comes as no surprise. He was around for New England’s first three Super Bowl wins of the millennium and likely cheered them on throughout the historic process.

While the Patriots are looking for a championship win, Pierce will be looking for his own title this year. He faces an uphill battle with the Clippers, a team who hasn’t been able to get over the hump in recent years. They’ll have to get by teams like the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Utah Jazz in 2017 in order to advance in the playoffs. At this stage of his career, Pierce isn’t going to make much of an impact, so it will be up to someone like Chris Paul or Blake Griffin to lead the way.
