Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman would go down injured late in Super Bowl 51 against the New England Patriots.

The Atlanta Falcons’ offense hasn’t been on the field as much as the New England Patriots have in Super Bowl 51, but they made efficient work of the plays they were on the field. They’ve had Matt Ryan slinging the ball all over the field and the running game has strong. Tevin Coleman had a huge rushing touchdown to extend the Falcons’ lead in the third quarter.

However, there was some bad news in the fourth quarter of the game as the Falcons were trying to ice the game. As Coleman went to block, he appeared to tweak his ankle. He immediately hit the ground and it was clear that he was in serious pain.

He would leave the field and would head back to the locker. Coleman was used by the Falcons for some power runs to the outside and was a part of their game plan against New England. To see him get hurt blocking makes it even tougher.

Ryan would then get sacked and fumble the football in his own territory which set up a huge touchdown by the Patriots to make things closer. After the Falcons had built a huge lead, the Patriots scored 17 points unanswered to make it interesting.

Coleman’s injury took away a weapon that Atlanta could have used late. No one wants to see injuries happen on the field, but if there’s any consolation for Coleman it’s that he left with the lead and a performance to be proud of.
