Upon exiting from the New England Patriots flight back to Boston after Super Bowl LI, defensive coordinator Matt Patricia found a perfect way to troll NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The New England Patriots did the improbable as Tom Brady led the team back from a 25-point deficit. After a night full of celebrating the team’s Super Bowl LI victory in Houston, the Patriots safely returned to Boston. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia’s exit from the plane caught the eyes of the media due to his shirt choice.

As shown above, it appears that Patricia is wearing a shirt that depicts NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as a clown. It’s surprising that Patricia remembered to pack this shirt in his luggage before their trip to Super Bowl LI. However, it’s obvious why Patricia is poking some fun at Goodell. The Patriots organization and their fans were furious when Brady’s four-game suspension was upheld and the quarterback elected not to send the case to a possible hearing in front of the Supreme Court.

Instead, Brady reluctantly didn’t play in the team’s first four games of the 2016 season. The team rallied around his absence and came out better record wise after four games than many predicted. Now the Patriots have won their fifth Super Bowl title despite being dominated for most of the game until they woke up midway through the third quarter.

While Brady and Goodell have moved on from the Deflategate issue, it’s clear that many haven’t. Patricia appears to still be salty about the issue but he found a funny way to get some attention about his disdain for the commissioner while exiting Monday’s return flight.

No matter how many years go by, one thing is for certain. Patriots fans will remember the 2016 NFL season for two reasons: Deflategate and Super Bowl LI. Luckily for them, Brady’s DeflateGate scandal didn’t cost them a chance at the ultimate goal of winning another Super Bowl. Lastly, Patricia got one last laugh in around DeflateGate before the team turns their focus to the 2017 season.
