NFL free agency 2017: Best tight ends available
2. Jared Cook
Cook missed six games in the middle of the regular season with the Green Bay Packers this past season, but when he returned he was very productive. Over his final 10 games, counting three playoff games, Cook had at least three receptions eight times.
Narrowing back to those three playoff games, Cook was at his best with 18 receptions (on 32 targets) for 230 yards and two touchdowns. After that very nice postseason run, it’s not surprising the Packers reportedly want to re-sign Cook and quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants the best tight end he has had since Jermichael Finley back in the fold.
Cook’s career has been marked by underachievement, due in part to lackluster quarterback play during his time with the Tennessee Titans (2009-2012) and Los Angeles Rams (2013-2015). Staying in Green Bay with Rodgers as his quarterback should be a priority for Cook at this stage of his career, unless of course another team with an elite signal caller comes calling with a better contract offer.
