High Value PG

Ish Smith – Detroit Pistons ($4,000): Reggie who? Ish Smith outplayed Reggie Jackson in both minutes and performance against the Raptors yesterday and his value price of $4,000 makes him my top value point guard on the board tonight. He played 31 minutes yesterday and has reached 27 FP or more over his last three games.

Tim Hardaway Jr. – Atlanta Hawks ($5,800): THJ’s salary is a bit higher than most would like right now but tonight he faces a Portland team that simply does not defend well, particularly the three ball. THJ has been steady recently and tonight he has a matchup that could propel him to one of his FP explosions. He’s gone for 35 FP or more in three of his last five games, including a 47 FP outing against the Rockets. He seems to be set up for another 40+ FP game tonight.

Tyler Johnson – Miami Heat ($5,500): Keep an eye on whether or not Dion Waiters plays tonight, but even if he does he might be on reduced minutes with that ankle injury. Johnson is averaging 40 FP per game against the Magic this season and he scorched them for a 32/5/3 line back in December. I like Johnson a lot even if Waiters plays, but a whole lot more if he is out.

Jameer Nelson – Denver Nuggets ($5,400): The case can be made to completely fade Nelson tonight, as the Warriors suffocate shooters and clean up on the defensive boards. But it’s also hard to look past Nelson’s PT and his output over his last two games. He scored 41.5 FP against the Knicks then came back the next day and scored 39 FP against the Cavs. Golden State has a much better defense than those two clubs but if Mudiay is out again Nelson could see big minutes again. He’s hit 31 or more minutes in his last four games.
