Florida Gators

Last week: 18-5, 8-2 SEC
Last rank: 15

Florida’s winning streak is up to six, and ever-improving advance metric numbers show that the Gators might be one of the most underrated teams in the nation.

Following last week’s huge win over Kentucky, the Gators beat a decent Georgia team 72-60 on the road on Tuesday night. Florida followed that up with a nine-point win against Texas A&M over the weekend, improving to 10-2 in the SEC to tie Kentucky and South Carolina for first place.

There’s a lot to like about the way the Gators are playing on both ends of the floor right now, as they are getting key contributions from a number of pieces. Guard Canyon Berry can’t miss at the free throw line and is averaging 12.7 points per game, while Chris Chiozza is providing some terrific production off the bench with at least 11 points in three of his last four outings.

Other than a small rough stretch in mid-January, the Gators have been competitive against every team, including the blowout win over Kentucky and a five-point loss vs. Gonzaga on a neutral court. Florida ranks all the way up in sixth in adjusted efficiency per KenPom, with the No. 5 defense in the nation.

The Gators will look to keep the winning streak going with a pair of games at Auburn and Mississippi State over the next week.
