Get your shelves ready for the return of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

You don’t need me to tell you that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is coming up on us fast. The adventures of Marvel’s ragtag group of space heroes should be even bigger and bolder the second time around, to say nothing of the forgotten gems that will arrive on Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 2.

Still, it’s possible that there’s a void in your fandom, or more specifically, in your collection, that’s waiting to be filled. If that’s the case, the answer could be the first wave of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Legends Series figures that’s on the way from Hasbro in the next few weeks.

The wave consists of seven figures, including three Guardians done up as movie likenesses and four other characters who were team members or allies in the comics. As usual with the Legends line, parts are included for a cool-looking Build-A-Figure — in this case, one that will test the Marvel Comics knowledge of your friends.

Hasbro was kind enough to let FanSided check out these figures before they hit store shelves, so let’s help them escape their packaging (sorry collectors!) for a closer look.

Star-Lord

Leading the way is Peter Quill, now better known (as he’d prefer) the the galaxy at large as Star-Lord. He comes packed with the alternate masked head pictured above and his trademark blasters. Star-Lord’s jacket is nicely done and is a separate piece from his body.

The only issue I had with Star-Lord was trying to fit his blasters into his hands. Because of the way his hands are molded, you can’t just slide them in, and I was afraid I’d break his fingers. On the plus side, once you get them squared away, you won’t have to worry about them falling out.

Interestingly, Star-Lord is the one figure in the wave that doesn’t come with a Build-A-Figure piece, making him most suitable for purchasing on his own. But let’s be real, you’re probably in for all of these.

Drax

If you’re a fan of elaborate paint jobs, this is the figure for you. Drax sports the full complement of body art that he does on film, and his fierce expression is also a winner.

His accessories include knives that he can hold or holster in his boots, plus a very large bazooka-esque gun. Will he be packing some heavier firepower in the movie? Could be.

Yondu

From villain to hero? Maybe not, but Marvel has already revealed that Yondu will be at least aligned with the Guardians for the sequel. Like Star-Lord, his coat is separate from his body, and he also comes with an alternate head sporting a fuller mohawk and a whistling facial expression.

That goes with perhaps his coolest accessory, which is the arrow he controls with said whistle. The transparent trail can go right into his holster and makes it look like he’s sending it after someone, which opens up all kinds of posing possibilities.
