2. P.J. Tucker

Much of the talk surrounding the Phoenix Suns leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline has centered around their backcourt, Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe. That’s more than reasonable considering the impact that either player could potentially have on the playoff race after the deadline. However, the sale in the desert doesn’t have to be limited to those two players and veteran combo forward P.J. Tucker could be an interesting candidate for the Cavs to inquire about.

Coming to the Cavs, Tucker doesn’t exactly offer the same array of skills that Love does and his impact would have to come in a different manner. He’s a substantially worse 3-point shooter, though he’s not an abomination in that regard. What Tucker is, though, is a veteran presence that makes few mistakes, always does his job, and has the potential to make plays and even carry a team on either end for quick bursts. As a replacement for Love, that could be hugely valuable.

Tucker is a free agent after this season, so he potentially qualifies as a player that the Suns might not have any interest in moving forward with. After all, Tucker will turn 32 years old in May, so he doesn’t exactly figure into the future with the young core that the team is looking to build. Subsequently, they may be looking to get some return for him before the deadline rather than letting him walk for nothing. If that is indeed the case, Cleveland should be hitting the phones hard.
