2017 NFL Mock Draft: Patrick Mahomes on the rise
By Brad Weiss
The Cleveland Browns will pick twice in the first round come April, as their trade with the Philadelphia Eagles before last year’s draft will net them the No. 12 overall pick. The Eagles selected Carson Wentz with that pick last season, as they locked up their long-term answer at the quarterback position. In April, there should be a good QB available at No. 12, and the Browns may want to take a chance on one of them.
Prior to the NFL Draft, anything can happen, and the New England Patriots are looking to move Jimmy Garoppolo. If they do make a trade with the Browns, it will likely be for this pick, as the Pats want a first rounder in exchange. If a trade is not made, look for the Browns to take a player like DeShone Kizer, who could wind up being a very good NFL quarterback.
While some believe Kizer should have returned to Notre Dame for another season, his physical gifts cannot be overlooked. He has the ability to make all the throws, but his decision making skills came under scrutiny during his time with the Fighting Irish. He is going to be selected in the first round, and if the Browns do not have their quarterback position figured out by April, he could be the pick here.
